The Yolngu[]

The Yolngu are an Australian people inhabiting north-eastern Arnhem Land in the Northern Territory of Australia. The Yolngu comprise several distinct groups, differentiated by the languages and dialects they speak, but generally sharing overall similarities in the ritual life and hunter-gathering economic and cultural lifestyles in the territory of eastern Arnhem land.

Wonggu[]

Wonggu Mununggurr was an Aboriginal Australian artist and leader of the Djapu clan of the Yolngu people of northeast Arnhem Land in the Northern Territory of Australia. Known for his role in the Caledon Bay Crisis and the creation of the Northern Territory Special Reconnaissance Unit during World War II, Wonggu was a respected elder with more than twenty wives and at least sixty children.

Dawn of Man[]

Blessings be upon you, Wonggu Mununggurr of the Djapu clan. As an elder of the Yolngu, you played an integral part in the history of your people after their contact with Europeans. When the Caldon Bay crisis proposed punitive expedition against your people, you formed a friendly relationship with Donald Thomson, de-escalating the crisis and turning hostile interactions into prosperous ones. The Yolngu, of course, are no stranger to peaceful trade with faraway people having long sent trepangs to the Macassans and China beyond. Much like the traders of the past, you navigated a world of changing allegiances, punitive expeditions, and people who would do you ill.

Wise Wonggu, you must once again fight for your people. Much have changed, but much is still yet to be done to establish strong relations of prosperity. Can you navigate a treacherous world of intrigue and trade? Will you build a civilization that can stand the test of time?

Introduction: "It is great that we can meet. You must have come from afar. Please, tread carefully not to desecrate the laws of the Yolngu and our lands."

Defeat: "Quite disgusting what you have done! Are you done destroy this land yet? There's no more to desecrate!"

Attacked: "If all the dreamers of the world become beasts like you... no, you will not succeed!"
