Overview[]

The Yenisei Kyrgyz[]

The Yenisei Kyrgyz are a nomadic people from Russia and Mongolia, with a history we still don't know much about. We know that they are the ancestors of the modern Kyrgyz people, and were themselves a relative of the Khakas. Despite what little we know, it is known that they had great influence, with Barsbek Aje having great sway in China. The people were however dispersed by rival hordes, with their ancestors stretching from China to Kyrgyzstan. Barsbek Aje himself may have inspired the Kyrgyz epic of Manas, a dastan that's still remembered to this day.

Barsbek[]

Barsbek, a khagan of the Yenisei Kyrgyz, may have taken the name Aje or Ajo of many Kyrgyz Khagans. What is known about the man is little but legendary. He forged an marital alliance with the Gokturks, and even forged a strong bond with the Chinese Emperor at the time. However, this would lead to be Barsbek's downfall, as famed Tonyukuk would eventually go to battle against the Khagan, ending the reign of Barsbek soon. A mediator of peace in the usually violent hordes, Barsbek left a strange legacy that still persists to this day. After Barsbek's death, a stele was erected on the Abakan river, near where he would have ruled.

"May the hammer of gods strike down your foes, oh great Vesse of the Oeselians. For many years have your people graced the Baltic Sea, dominating the waves in a manner few else could. Your Piraticas were among the finest ships, and the Liburna would carry back your hard-earned plunder. Yet it was at the hand of the Crusader scourge that your people started to fall. After the massacre of the four kings, you picked up the fight for your culture once more, knowing that only the gallows awaited you.

Vesse, the gods bless you with life once more! The world is cruel, and you shall show them no mercy. Can you stand where once you've fallen before? Can your ships send your enemies to the depths? Can you build a Civilization that will stand the test of time?"

Introduction: "Ah, another warrior on the steppes! It is always a pleasure to meet someone else with power. Now, let us talk business."

Introduction: "If I may introduce myself, I am Barsbek Aje of the Yenisei Kyrgyz. As you'll find out, few can best my diplomatic skill."

Defeat: "I have lost. I knew battle was never the way to go for the Kyrgyz. If I could've only united the steppes, how great it would've been! May the earth mother bless your lands as she did mine."
