The Ottomans, led by Orhan, are a custom civilisation mod by More Civilisations, with contributions from Lime, Alga, RawSasquatch, EmeraldRange and Darth. The civ was initially released as part of the 10th anniversary collection, an event celebrating 10 years of Civilization V.

Overview[]
The Ottomans[]
The Ottoman Empire was born in Anatolia (in modern Turkey) at the start of the 13th century. It expanded into three continents and thrived for some six centuries. Many Americans know very little about the Ottoman Empire (it occupies the blind spot Americans have for pretty much everything between Greece and China). This is a great pity, for the Ottoman Empire was vast, powerful, and extremely interesting.
Orhan[]
Orhan, also called Orhan Ghazi or Orkhan, was the second ruler of the Ottoman dynasty which had been founded by his father, Osman I. Orhan’s reign (1324–60) marked the beginning of Ottoman expansion into the Balkans. Under Orhan’s leadership, the small Ottoman principality in northwestern Anatolia continued to attract Ghazis (warriors for the Islamic faith) from surrounding Turkish emirates fighting against Byzantium. In 1324 the Byzantine town of Brusa (later Bursa) fell to the Ottomans, followed by Nicaea (modern İznik) in 1331 and Nicomedia (modern İzmit) in 1337.

Since the dawn of time, your people have roamed the steppes of Eurasia, dispelling the illusions of all those who dared to think they could subjugate them. When the time was right, your forebears struck like wolves on the fold, establishing themselves in the heart of Anatolia and slowly forming many small states. But your father was not content with this, envisioning a kingdom that would stretch across continents and oceans - successor to Rome and envy of the world.

Attacked: "You dare to threaten us? History shall tell of the scale of your misjudgement."
Declaration of War: "Just as God envisioned, your lands shall soon be ours. Prepare for war, or just surrender and save us the trouble."
