This mod requires Brave New World.

Overview[]

Islands of Refreshment[]

The Islands of Refreshment was a micronation of four residents in the South Atlantic Ocean, set on what is known today as Tristan da Cunha, Inaccessible Island, and Nightingale Island. It was founded by its self-proclaimed ruler Jonathan Lambert in 1811 and existed until it was annexed by the United Kingdom in 1816, following Lambert's death in 1812.

Jonathan Lambert[]

Jonathan Lambert was born on February 11, 1772 in Salem, Massachusetts. He worked as a sailor, pirate, and whaler for many years, always returning back to Salem. After his father died in 1804, Lambert decided on a new venture, Tristan da Cunha. For Jonathan, he saw settling the island in the South Atlantic as a business venture, where he could get wealthy and return back home to Salem. Some historians theorize this might be due to a potentially not receiving much from his father's inheritance. He decided to leave his wife, Mary, in August 1810, and departed for Tristan da Cunha, which was documented by the Boston Gazette.

Great Prince Jonathan Lambert, you've been called a "toy-king" or a "mini-Napoleon" by your most esteemed admirers. To follow your dreams, you left your wife and town of Salem, to embark on a new adventure. This was a dream others couldn't even fathom: take control of a place no man has ever thought to conquer up until that point: Tristan da Cunha. But I apologize, that was its name no longer; the "Island of Refreshment" was now its new name, which was recognized for a year to come. Alongside the other Islands of Refreshment, sporting memorable names such as "Pintard Island" and "Lovel Island", you began to build up your empire in the middle of the South Atlantic. You and 3 other men built up the small settlement of "Reception", a city for the ages: 3 straw huts and a farm. You spread the name of the Islands of Refreshment far and wide, with some captains deciding to visit your islands for themselves. You thought of the potential for your great Island nation, an economy that could be built upon Seals, that unfortunately never came to fruition. It's sad to say your dream was never realized to its fullest, with you drowning near "Inaccessible Island" only about a year after settlement. In the end, maybe there was a reason for that to be the Island's name, instead of "Pintard Island".

Oh Jonathan, it's time for you to realize your dream to the fullest. The 3 other people of your nation desire for you to not drown this time and instead build a great empire. Will you make a refreshing destination for ships to dock at? Will you build a civilization that can stand the test of time?

Introduction: I am Jonathan Lambert, the ruler of the Islands of Refreshment. Come, take a tour, there's so much to see! Like this farm, this house, and this seal!
