Overview[]

The Inca[]

The largest Pre-Columbian empire in the Americas, the Incan Empire stretched from Peru to Chile along the Andes Mountains. This grand empire had humble beginnings in one small kingdom, but grew to dominate the whole of "civilized" South America. While the empire only lasted for one brief century, it did much to unify the people and culture of the different tribes living on the mountain tops. Despite the Inca's near and complete annihilation, many artifacts and physical structures still stand, such as the famed Machu Picchu, a testament of the power once wielded by the Incan kings.

Atahualpa[]

Atahualpa was the last effective Inca emperor before his capture and execution during the Spanish conquest of the Inca Empire. The son of Huayna Cápac, Atahualpa initially accepted his half-brother Huáscar as the emperor. However, from 1529 to 1532, they contested the succession in the Inca Civil War, in which Atahualpa's forces defeated and captured Huáscar. Around the same time as Atahualpa's victory, a group of Spanish conquistadors, led by Francisco Pizarro, arrived in the region. In November 1532, they captured Atahualpa during an ambush at Cajamarca. In captivity, Atahualpa gave a ransom in exchange for a promise of release and arranged for the execution of Huáscar. After receiving the ransom, the Spanish accused Atahualpa of treason, conspiracy against the Spanish Crown, and the murder of Huáscar. They put him on trial and sentenced him to death.

Dawn of Man[]

Blessings of the sun be upon you, O' righteous Atahualpa. You are the last true emperor of the Inca. The favoured son of your father, Huayana Capac, your rule would be one amidst the chaos of the ambitions of your half-brother Huáscar. From 1529 AD, you and your loyal generals would wage civil war, deftly proving your superior skill until Huáscar's final defeat in 1532 and the capture of the ancient capital of Cuzco. Yet short was your victory, for soon you would the Incan empire's final and greatest threat: the Spanish. Noble Sapa Inca, the treachery of your rivals has once again risen up against you. Can you, with the aid and skill of your tactful generals, lead your armies to victory? Can you inspire the righteous loyalty of those fallen sway to your enemies? Can you build a civilization that will stand the test of time?
