Overview

Rio Grande

The Republic of the Rio Grande was a state created in opposition to Santa Anna's new Centralist government in Mexico. The country consisted of the states Coahuila, Nuevo León, and Tamaulipas, and the Capital of Laredo. The country didn't even last for a year, and the majority of the soldiers in the Army were Texan and Mexican volunteers, and Caddo Indians. The country was disbanded after their defeat at the Battle of Saltillo, because the majority of the army were bribed by the Mexican Army or were Mexican Spies.

Antonio Canales Rosillo

Antonio Canales Rosillo was a member of the Mexican Army, untill he led the movement against the new Centralist government, and founded the Republic of the Rio Grande. After the Republic was surrendered back to Mexico, Canales was offered a position as Brigadier General of Santa Anna's Army, which he accepted. He fought in the Mexican-American War, and he became a hero amongst the Mexican people.

"Howdy to you, General Antonio Canales Rosillo of the Republic of the Rio Grande! You fought what y ou believed in, by creating a Federalist republic in protest to Santa Anna's crooked Centralist ways. You built up a great army, solely on volunteers, to win multiple battles against your former Mexican brethren. You helped create a government, to show the seriousness and bravery of your true intentions. You became a local hero in the Northern Mexican states of Coahuila, Nuevo León, and Tamaulipas, and got a backing in supplies, soldiers, and loyalty from the people themselves. Despite being against all odds, you held your head high and didn't give up.

Establish a Newspaper for Rio Grande

War has been declared, and you and your people want a way to get the news from the front. A newspaper would be a great solution, and it would help the people worried back home.

Requirements/Restrictions:

• Player must be Rio Grande
• Must be at War
• Must have the "Military Science" Technology
• May only be enacted once per game

Costs:

• 300 Gold
• 2 Magistrates

Rewards:

• All current Units Get 15 Experience.
• You get 15 Happiness.

Gather Volunteers for the Rio Grande Army

It seems that you may have a war to deal with, but you lack an army. Luckily, soldiers from another friendly nation are willing to fight on your side.

Requirements/Restrictions:

• Player must be Rio Grande
• Must have a Declaration of Friendship with another Player
• Must be in the Renaissance Era or later
• May only be enacted once per game

Costs:

• 500 Culture
• 2 Magistrates

Rewards:

• Each unit owned by a civilization that you have a Declaration of Friendship with will have a 10% chance to join your side.
