Overview

Paris

The Paris Commune was as simple as the name suggests- it was a revolutionary commune in Paris from the month of March into late May. It was a small, organized resistance to the French Republic's government at the time, and ushered forth many progressive policies. However, the most that can be said about the Commune is what it would inspire- the later movements of Marxism and further Communism were inspired directly by the Paris Commune.

Louis Charles Delescluze

There isn't too much to say about Louis Charles Delescluze. He was born in Dreux in Northern France before studying Law in Paris, and was actually a Republican who partook in the overthrow of the Bourbon Monarchy. However, a year of revolutionary activitgy would later land him in several key positions within the Paris Commune, where he effectively acted as leader, although there was no official position. Although the Commune had early success, it was quickly beaten back by the Republican forces, and Delescluze faced his death at the top of a barricade on Place Chateau d'Eau. Although there was still a struggling resistance, Delescluze's death marked the beginning of the end of the Paris Commune.

To arms, stalwart Louis Charles Delescluze! Though the tyranny of the government of France may put you down, the people of France- nay, the world- have their eyes on you! For who else could it have been to lead the common peoples of Paris in conflict against the might of the Republic? You took the commune’s cause in your eyes, and nestled it dearly within your heart- it was only your death on the barricade at Place Chateau-d’Eau that signified the end of the commune. Yet still, people fought, even to their own massacre at the Communards’ wall.

Now, it is time once again for you to lead your comrades to the streets. Your people need a voice, and lungs to give their anger life! Can you push back against the Republican rule once more? Can you defend the streets of Paris as you did in life and death? Can you build a Civilization that will stand the test of time?

Introduction: "Good morning. My name is Louis Charles Delescluze, and while I represent the peoples of the commune, I would hardly say I lead them. In any case, what sort of business are you interested in?"

Introduction: "Oh? I wasn't expecting visitors at this time of day. My name is Louis Charles Delescluze, representative of the communards. Have you heard about us in the papers?"

Defeat: "If you desire that the generous amount of blood which has flowed like water shall not have been in vain, please treat the citizenry of my commune with great respect. May you hope we never meet again."
