Overview[]

Norway[]

The Kingdom of Norway during the Hardrada dynasty was considered the Golden Age of Norway, and also signified the beginning of the end of Viking culture in Scandinavia. While many remember Harald Hardrada as the last true Viking, Norse expansion was still prevalent. In modern times, Norway is one of the nicest countries to live. However, the monarchy present in Norway today is vastly different from Medieval Norway.

Eystein I[]

Eystein Magnusson was the son of Magnus III of Norway. Upon his father's death, he began his co-rule with his brothers, Sigurd and Olaf. Of the three, Eystein was the one most invested in state affairs, and was responsible for numerous construction projects. He was known as a compassionate ruler, and contemporary reviews have looked back on Eystein favorably.

The path to fortune follows you, oh great Eystein I of Norway. Your father’s passing and brother’s absence left you a kingdom near the peak of its power- a peak that you would soon reach. Unlike your brother, you were not a warrior, but a statesman and architect. Your pursuit of benevolence and faith forged a new legacy in Norway, one of a nation at peace. When your brother returned from the crusades, he found you had sculpted Norway into a prosperous nation, and he would follow your footsteps upon your demise.

Oh, gracious Eystein, your people look for a king to listen to their woes! The Viking legacy lives on in the blood of the Norsemen, and you shall guide them to greater shores. Can your ships reach the edges of the world? Can you benefit your peoples across all the lands? Can you build a civilization that can stand the test of time?

Introduction: "You are in the presence of the great king of Norway, Eystein Magnusson. If you want to talk, I'll listen to whatever you have to say."

Introduction: "Greetings, traveler. I am Eystein Magnusson of Norway. If there's any burden you wish to share, I'm here."

Defeat: "Brothers, I have failed you. I never was much a man of war, so I had prayed for a better salvation than this..."
