Nepal is a country whose history is extremely well-documented and goes back way too far for me to cover in a few paragraphs. Humans have existed in the region for over 50,000 years, and it appears in various forms throughout history. One of the kingdoms, Shakya, bore a prince- he would later become known as Gautama Buddha. By 250 B.C., it came under control of the Maurya dynasty, and by the 4th century A.D. it was under control of the Gupta Empire. Various states ruled Nepal until the mid-18th century, when king Prithvi Narayan Shah of Gorkha created the fledgling Kingdom of Nepal. While the British forces were invading India, they relied on various Nepalese forces, whom they called Gurkhas. These soldiers served with prestige during the Indian Rebellion of 1857, and have since become a staple of British forces. It was during this time that the Rana dynasty would come to power, under Jung Bahadur Rana- who became Prime Minister in 1847. The Rana regime greatly favored the British, which is still a controversial decision to this day, but may nonetheless have been responsible for Nepal's continued independence. It wasn't until 1951 when the Ranas were removed from power, and not until 2008 that the monarchy was abolished, creating a newly reformed state: the Federal Democratic Republic of Nepal.

Jung Bahadur Rana[]

Jung Bahadur Rana, born Bir Narsingh Kunwar in 1817 in the village of Borlang, was the son of one of the king's bodyguard. His family grew to prestige when his father, Bal Narsingh Kunwar, avenged the death of the previous king. It was during the early years that Jung Bahadur would join the military, rising to Second Lieutenant before returning to Kathmandu in 1839, where his wife and son had already passed. It was only when Jung Bahadur met king Rajenda on a chance encounter that he started to earn his own prestige. He displayed fearlessness in front of the king, reportedly jumping into a river from horseback at the king's command, which led to Jung Bahadur becoming one of the King's personal bodyguards. It was there that he met and impressed the youngest Queen, who held de facto power over Nepal. After Jung Bahadur's assassination of Mathabar Singh Thapa, the queen bestowed Jung Bahadur the rank of General. However, Jung Bahadur would only become Prime Minister after he and his brothers massacred about 40 members of the Nepalese palace court, removing any opposition to his own rise to power.

Dawn of Man[]

All hail the first of the Rana Dynasty, Prime Minister Jung Bahadur Kunwar Ranaji! Your critics may regard you as an autocrat; a dictator who led your nation into the dark ages, silenced opposition, and installed a puppet monarch in order to garner power. However, others might say you were a political realist- one who saw the rise of British authority in India and sought countermeasures. Whether by brute force or sheer efficiency, you led your nation into modernity, improving industry, infrastructure, and the bureaucracy. After ruling for over 30 years, your death was simply the end of one chapter in the Rana regime.

Stern Maharaja, your soldiers need a commander to guide them to distant prospects. Can you defend the independence of the Nepalese state? Can you renew what was once lost to war? Can you build a civilization that can stand the test of time?

Introduction: Oh, hello there. My name is Jung Bahadur, I am the prime minister of Nepal, among other things. Oh? You'd like to speak with the king? There's no need for that, I'm afraid.

Introduction: Welcome to Nepal, my name is Jung Bahadur. I'm the one in charge here. Hm? The mountains? Don't even think about it. Greater men have died trying to reach the top of them.

Defeat: I see no reason to continue discussions. You've taken my state from me- what more do I have to offer you?
