Overview[]

Mongolia[]

The Mongolian Empire formed the largest contiguous empire in the history of the world, stretching from the Danube to the Sea of Japan and from Siberia to Cambodia - roughly 22% of the Earth's land area. From humble beginnings as a mish-mash of unaligned nomadic tribes, the Mongols changed the face of the ancient world and became one of the most feared and effective military forces ever to walk the land.

Ögedei Khan[]

Ögedei Khan was the third son of Genghis Khan and second khagan-emperor of the Mongol Empire, succeeding his father. He continued the expansion of the empire that his father had begun and was a world figure when the Mongol Empire reached its farthest extent west and south during the Mongol invasions of Europe and Mongol conquests of China. Like all of Genghis' primary sons, he participated extensively in conquests in China, Iran, and Central Asia.

Dawn of Man[]

"There is much to be done, Ögedei Khan of the Mongols, Khagan-Emperor and King of Kings. Succeeding the great Genghis Khan, your father, you built upon his empire. Expanding conquests into the cities of the Middle East and Central Asia, against the Jin dynasty, Georgia, Armenia, Goryeo, the Russian Principalities and other European Kingdoms, you cemented the empire of your father. But, you built new laws, solidified trade networks, re-created the Silk Road. The Pax Mongolica was a direct result of the Yams which you created to connect East and West, and the vast administrative systems you implemented. So cheers, have a drink, and be merry, for the world is at your feet. But not too much, for you died after a drinking contest. Whoops.

Oh, mighty Khagan, you must use your charisma and skill to build a new empire. The world will be strange and unfamiliar, but many of the drives are the same, the drive for power, for gold, for resources, for wealth, for stability. Once, you commanded vast hordes, you can do the same again. Will you build a glorious empire of conquest, trade and prosperity once more? Can you build a civilization that will stand the test of time?"

Introduction: "Welcome to my lands, a great steppe with riches galore. Join me for a drink in my yurt."

Defeat: "That last drink... to much..."
