Overview

Lebanon

Lebanon, currently officially known as the Lebanese Republic, is a country located in the Levant whose cultures date back thousands of years. Even in its modern iteration, Lebanon is known for its cultural diversity, containing Muslim Lebanese Arabs, Christian Maronites, and Druze. Bordered by Syria to the north and east and Israel to the south, Lebanon has long been a place where Mediterranean cultures meet Middle Eastern cultures and the Levantine cultures of old.

Majid Arslan

Majid Toufic Arslan was a Lebanese Druze leader and head of the Arslan feudal Druze ruling family. Arslan was the leader of the Yazbaki (Arslan affiliations) faction. Majid Arslan was a national political figure with a role in Lebanon's independence, a long-running Member of the Lebanese Parliament and a government minister for many times with a number of important ministerial portfolios. The son of Toufic Arslan, who helped found Greater Lebanon in 1920, he had three brothers, a sister, and married twice, having three sons and three daughters. He was known for his exceptional skills in horsemanship.

"The cedar calls once again, Majid Toufic Arslan, for the country you helped build is in dire peril. As the head of a historically important Druze family, you served as a minister for the Lebanese government for many years, where you were responsible over a period of over 35 years for your country’s defense, justice, health, relations with other countries, agriculture, communications and housing. And while your government service is admirable, the people truly remember your role in the independence for your country. Drawing up a national pact with other leading political figures of the country which attempted to create an independent and harmonious Lebanon, you took control and created the Government of Free Lebanon after the French kidnapped your fellow political leaders. After some short skirmishes and pressure in the street, the French caved and allowed Lebanon to rise, freed from the shackles of colonialism.

Majid Arslan, your people once again call for the conviction of a leader such as you. The demand a strong public servant, who will rule in the interests of all and not just a minority. Can you once again be the just leader to shine a candle and walk into an uncertain future? Can you build a civilization that will stand beside the noblest of all time?"
