Overview

Khomeini

Ayatollah Ruhollah Khomeini was an Iranian politician and marja. He was the founder of the Islamic Republic of Iran and the leader of the 1979 Iranian Revolution that saw the overthrow of the last Shah of Iran, Mohammad Reza Pahlavi, and the end of 2,500 years of Persian monarchy. Following the revolution, Khomeini became the country's Supreme Leader, a position created in the constitution of the Islamic Republic as the highest-ranking political and religious authority of the nation, which he held until his death. He was succeeded by Ali Khamenei on 4 June 1989.

Your resilience and devotion to your faith and ideals made you a leading figure of the Iranian Revolution, even despite your exile for opposing the Shah's reforms. Upon returning to Iran in 1979, the Iranian people quickly supported you as their new leader as the Pahlavi Dynasty collapsed. Your political theory saw no distinction between religion and politics, and the concept of governance by Islamic jurists became the foundation of the Islamic Republic that succeeded the 2000 year old monarchy. This theocratic government was able to impose strict Islamic laws and reverse the western influence that had infected your nation. This stubborn resistance to outside thought and absolute devotion to Islamic principles and tradition made you a hero not just among the Iranian people, but also among the greater international Islamic community and other groups seeking to resist the West.

Oh great Imam, your people once again call for your guidance. Will you be able to resist the influences of the outside world? Will you govern by what is righteous and just? Will you build a civilization that will stand the test of time?"

De-secularize the Universities

For a nation to be truly devout, it requires a cultural revolution to purge society of its sinfulness. We shall desecularize our universities and remove all foreign influence in order to replace the curriculum with religious study.

Requirements/Restrictions:

• Player must be Iran (Khomeini).
• Must have researched Education.
• May only be enacted once per game.

Costs:

• 200 Culture.
• 2 Magistrates.

Rewards:

• +2 Faith and Culture from Universities.

Censor the Radio

Music is no different from opium, making our citizen's brains active and frivolous. If we want independence for our nation, we must ban music.

Requirements/Restrictions:

• Player must be Iran (Khomeini).
• Must have researched Radio.
• May only be enacted once per game.

Costs:

• 1500 Gold.
• 2 Magistrates.

Rewards:

• Broadcast Towers no longer have slots for Great Works of Music, but instead they yield +5 Faith and increase Religious Pressure by 100%.
