Hallownest led by The Pale King is a custom fictional civilization by JakeWalrusWhale and TopHatPaladin. It is from the game "Hollow Knight".

This mod requires Brave New World.

Overview

Hallownest

Hallownest is the kingdom in which the game Hollow Knight takes place. Once ruled by the Pale King, its seemingly immortal god-king, the kingdom has fallen into ruin by the time the player encounters it. The land of Hallownest covers a vast network of caves and tunnels in the middle of a wasteland. They are inhabited by both sentient and wild bugs, among other creatures.

The Pale King

In Hollow Knight, the Pale King was a higher being who founded and ruled the kingdom of Hallownest. Originally existing as a wyrm, the Pale King shed this form in Kingdom's Edge in order to adopt a new form that resembled the bugs of the region. The Pale King expanded the minds of these bugs, granting them sapience in return for their eternal devotion. This agreement became the founding contract of Hallownest.

Dawn of Man

"Higher Being, these words are for you alone. Within our lands do not hide your true form. Let us all bask in your majesty, for this kingdom could only produce one such as you. Pale Wyrm, through your reign and guidance, you successfully granted all bugs a mind to think, a will to break, and a voice to cry suffering. All bugs in your knigdom worshiped you, a true god that gave them everything. You gave them peace and prosperity, in return for their loyalty. You attempted to prevent the infection, at any cost no matter how great, for the sake of your kind. Despite your kingdom falling due to the infection, you left an everlasting brand on bugkind.

Oh, gracious god, the bugs look to you again for a king that can repel the Infection. Can you stop the Radiance and prevent bugs from subjugating to the will of the Infection? Can you raise an army of Void for the sake of keeping your kingdom in one piece? Can you build a civilization that can stand the test of time?"

Introduction: "Welcome, fellow king. I am The Pale King, the true higher being of Hallownest. I hope bug and man can coexist in peace."

Defeat: "Fighting for 'honour' or for 'loyalty'... You might as well be fighting for dust. Your actions will take its toll on Hallownest for eternity."

Art by JakeWalrusWhale No Cost Too Great Fallout appears where your units die, or where they kill other units. Clearing Fallout generates Golden Age Points. Military units may clear Fallout, giving them a Strength boost but lowering their max HP.
Art by JakeWalrusWhale Art by JakeWalrusWhale Vessel (Longswordsman) Doesn't obsolete. Is very cheap to produce, but is very weak. Suffers no HP penalty from clearing Fallout. Clearing 5 Fallout tiles upgrades the Vessel into a Pure Vessel, which is noticeably stronger than the melee unit of the era.
Art by JakeWalrusWhale Stag Station (Caravansary) Can Airlift Units when there is a Stag Station between cities. Tiles with a Road in City Limits have a chance to produce Fallout every turn.
