Overview[]
Greenland[]
Greenland was first found by the Vikings, who would later create the first known permanent settlements on the island. After them, The Thule people began to inhabit the land, before coming into contact with the Europeans. The Danish gained control of the island in 1841, and since then have ruled the island. Only recently have Greenlanders begun to push for their own independence.
Erik Thorvaldsson[]
Erik Thorvaldsson, aka Erik the Red, was a Norwegian Viking who founded the first true settlement in Greenland. Exiled from his home, he bravely sailed across the Northern Atlantic, and explored the island of Greenland. Returning home, he told people of a wonderful “green land” he had found, and persuaded many people to come with him in what would become the first permanent settlement of Greenland.
Dawn of Man[]

Art by TPangolin
Hail Erik Thorvaldsson, legendary navigator of the North Seas! You rule the people of Greenland - a steadfast cohort of pioneers, who cast off from Nordic shores in search of a better life. By the Sun and the Stars, you deftly navigated the treacherous waters of the open ocean in your longboats, discovering and settling a great new land soon after. Under your rule Greenland grew mighty, expanding to a population of many thousands as word spread of the opportunities you had given your people. Not all was to end well however, and the immigrants which would be your saviour were also your downfall, bringing with them plagues and illness which ravaged your fledgling settlements and even took your own life, great pioneer.
Oh great Erik the Red, the people of the north cry out again for leadership! They seek a better life in a distant land, and look to you to lead them into the unknown! Will you heed their call, and once more venture out beyond the horizon? Will you once again forge your people's legacy in a new world? Will you build a civilization that can stand the test of time?
