Overview[]

Great Jin[]

The Jurchen Jin dynasty (meaning “Golden”) ruled parts of China, Mongolia, and northern Korea from 1115 to 1234 CE. The Jurchen originated from Manchuria, but in conquering the neighbouring Liao empire of the Khitan and parts of Song China, they came to rule the Great Plain of Asia from 1127 CE until their fall at the hands of the Mongols. It is not to be confused with the Chinese Jin dynasty which ruled China from 266 to 316 CE.

Shizong[]

Emperor Shizong of Jin was the fifth emperor of the Jurchen-led Jin dynasty, which ruled northern China between the 12th and 13th centuries. Ruling from 1161 to 1189 under the regnal name "Dading", Emperor Shizong's reign was the longest and most stable among the Jin dynasty emperors.

Dawn of Man[]

"Northern China is united beneath the Jurchen dynasty, and you, Emperor Shizong, are its greatest ruler. In the nearly three decades of your reign, you would see to the protection of not only your territories but also of your people and their culture. The Jurchen way of life - a way of the hunt and of the horse - saw in you a time of flourishing, and in your efforts to strengthen China's ancient walls you would ensure that it could do so in peace. Though the Great Jin would fall shortly after your death, you will be remembered as one of the greatest of the Jurchen emperors.

The barbarians prowl China's great walls, and their war horns bellow and thunder. But the Great Jin shall not fall this day. The Jurchen people trust in the justness of your reign. Can you uphold their mandate to rule? Can you keep your people and their culture safe behind China's walls? Can you build a civilization that will stand the test of time?"

Introduction: "You stand before the presence of great Shizong, Jurchen Emperor of China. Afford me your respect and awe."

Defeat: "My throne shall pass to no other. The Jurchen people are weak, and without me, they will fail."
