Overview[]
Duty[]
Duty (or "Dolg" in Ukrainian/Russian) is a paramilitary clan of stalkers operating in the Zone with members living according to a code. They, along with their main rivals in Freedom, are one of the most powerful stalker clans in the Zone. Duty is a paramilitary group, whose members live by a clear military charter. The ideology of the faction is to protect the mankind from the dangers of the Zone, and then completely destroy the Zone. Duty deals with the internal problems of the Zone, being one of the only factions to purposely attempt the proactive extermination of mutants, often cooperating with hunters to fulfill these missions. According to some, notably the Freedom faction, Duty is funded by the government. Duty and the army do have common goals - to contain, explore and destroy the Zone. Duty is primarily made up of the survivors of military expeditions into the Zone, sent to take its territory under governmental control in the wake of the very first stalker incursions in 2009. Anomalies and mutants caused many casualties, while those who managed to survive eventually made their way to the Rostok Factory, where they stayed, fighting off monsters and coping with hunger and deprivation. Duty was founded by then-Captain Tachenko, the squad leader of a team of army specialists who were tasked to destroy the center of the zone using nuclear explosives. However, they were nearly wiped out by an emission that followed. He and his closest officers staged a communications breakdown, allowing them to desert the army and join stalkers in exploiting the Zone. While this ploy worked, the resulting chaos led to great casualties among soldiers, although it enabled Tachenko to create Duty.
Voronin[]
General Voronin is the leader of the Duty faction during the events of both STALKER: Shadow of Chernobyl and STALKER: Call of Pripyat. One of Duty's founders and their leading idealogue, responsible for the faction's sacred military code. He recruited almost all of Duty's key members. He is a strict and intolerant man with little time to waste, acting agitated and with little patience whenever interacting with the player. Voronin came into power sometime after General Krylov. After becoming the leader of Duty, Voronin made a cease-fire pact with the Freedom faction, essentially an agreement to avoid open conflict, due to Duty's precarious position and particularly the threat of the Monolith. While some rogue elements of Duty disobey these orders, he takes no action against them.

We salute you, General Voronin, unbreakable leader of Duty! Taking command of Rostok after General Krylov, you continued the fight to destroy the horrors of the Zone, and protect humanity from the scourge of deadly anomalies and dangerous mutants! Anarchists and bandits, none of them could stop Duty on its triumphant march towards saving the planet! While those hippies in Freedom think they can coexist with those nightmares, the fighting men of Duty will follow their holy oath to destroy the Zone and all the scum who stand in their way, cease-fire or not.
General Voronin, this new world is under threat once again, and a strong man is needed to bring peace to it. Will you vanquish the horrors that threaten humanity, and build a warrior society capable of maintaining order? Can you build a Civilization that can stand the test of time?
