Brotherhood of Steel[]

The Brotherhood of Steel is a post-War techno-religious military order with chapters operating across the territory of the former United States. Founded by rogue U.S. Army Captain Roger Maxson shortly after the Great War, the Brotherhood's core purpose is to preserve advanced technology and regulate its usage. Though small and relatively isolationist, the Brotherhood has proved to be one of the most important organizations in the history of the wasteland, though their exact levels of power and influence have varied over time and by chapter. Chapters have stretched from their homelands in California, to the Mojave Desert, Montana, Colorado, Texas, the Midwest, Appalachia, the Capital Wasteland and the Commonwealth.

Roger Maxson[]

High Elder Roger Maxson was a captain in the United States Army and the founder of the Brotherhood of Steel, serving as its first high elder after the Great War.

Dawn of Man[]

"Ad victorium, o great deliverer Roger Maxson, founder and High Elder of the Brotherhood of Steel! A US Military veteran of the Resource Wars, you led your men in an open rebellion against the government for the inhumane atrocities they'd wrought upon their own soldiers. Reprisal never came for you, as the bombs came first. Your comrades and their families were among the few spared from the worst of the nuclear holocaust, and soon, you led them into the hostile wastelands, in search of a new home. That home would be the Lost Hills bunker, where your brothers' bond would be forged into something greater. The Brotherhood of Steel had been created, and under your fearless leadership, it would soon become one of the dominant civilized forces in the post-nuclear wastes. Scouring the continent from sea to sea, your Brotherhood would catalogue, preserve, and regulate technological artifacts from the age past, so that vital knowledge could never again be lost, nor could the forces which destroyed the world once-over be misused so terribly again.

Elder Maxson, before you lies yet another spoiled world of wandering wastrels, waiting for someone to bring forth civilization. Will you repel, with sword and shield, the barbaric forces of madness and violence that plague this world? Will your search for science allow you to safeguard destructive secrets, or is this world fated as that of old? Will you build a civilization to stand the test of time?"

Introduction: "A wastelander, huh? It's been a few years since the paladins last let one through, and they told me I should meet this one. I'm Roger Maxson, High Elder of the Brotherhood of Steel, pleased to make your acquaintance. So, who are you, and what do you have for us?"

Defeat: "Damn you... You may have bested me here, but the Brotherhood still has bunkers hidden everywhere, right under your nose -- we'll be back."
